How the CARES Act Impacts Charitable Giving for 2020:
To help non-profits withstand the economic impacts of COVID-19, the US Government has expanded the charitable deductions for the 2020 tax year:
- Allows all taxpayers (whether they itemize or not) to deduct up to $300 in cash giving
- For individuals, raises the cap on annual giving from 60% of adjusted gross income to 100%
- For corporations, raises the annual limit from 10% to 25% of taxable income

Hello New Mexico,
My name is Sara Lister and I am the CEO of Make-A-Wish New Mexico. I wanted to reach out and let you know what's happening with wishes, in light of the COVID-19 outbreak.
First, I want you to know that we are not canceling wishes. So far, we've had to postpone 15 wishes because of the outbreak, but those wishes will be granted as soon as we possibly can. We can't wait to celebrate with our wish kids at that time.
Additionally, we have over 100 kids in our pipeline at this time. These are kids across New Mexico, who are battling critical illnesses, and we could use your help to make sure those wishes are granted. If you are able, would you go to newmexico.wish.org and make a donation to help grant life-changing wishes?
We know how important it is for a child who's battling a critical illness to have a wish granted. It provides them with hope, and couldn't we all use a little hope right now?
I hope that you are all doing well and I am sending the best of wishes to you and your family.
- Sara Lister, President & CEO
