 Eleri-Clare M and Karen

SANTA FE- For Eleri-Clare who is only 3-years old mornings can be tough.  She wakes up stiff and the only reprieve is warm water.  When the volunteers from the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of New Mexico visited with Eleri-Clare and her family there were numerous discussions of what would be an appropriate wish, and a Therapy Tub from Marquis Spas was the answer.

Eleri-Clare is unable to communicate verbally for herself, but her loving family knew what would help improve her quality of life.  Her medical condition prevents her from being able to speak or walk but she is able to express happiness and pain.  Warm water takes away that pain; it is the only time where Eleri-Clare can hold her own weight, where she can actually hold herself up.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation® of New Mexico worked with Marquis Spas and Genesis Spas and Pool of Santa Fe to supply all that was needed for Eleri-Clare to have her own therapy tub in her backyard.  In addition Eleri-Clare’s Wish was sponsored by Renegade, who has been a continuing supporter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of New Mexico by sponsoring a Wish annually.

"Eleri is in the tub several times daily. She uses it with all of her many therapists, her parents, her siblings and her friends (virtually all of whom have special needs). The value of the Wish lies not just in the cost of the tub (which, with 5 children who have special needs, was far outside of our grasp), but in the fact that this is a lifetime gift. Eleri will have the tub forever, which is appropriate, as she faces a lifetime of severe disabilities. The tub is a huge gift for the entire family - one thing that the Make-A-Wish organization clearly understands is that the disabilities and special needs extend far beyond the identified patient - they profoundly impact the entire family. Eleri requires intensive hands-on care 24/7 - as her primary caregivers, that can be exhausting for my partner and me. It is such a luxury for us to be able to get into the therapy tub and just relax from time to time. All four of her siblings are profoundly impacted by both Eleri’s care and by the responsibilities and stresses of having an intensely medically fragile sibling who experiences life-threatening crises regularly. The tub is a wonderful release for them - and it is amazing for us to see (and hear) all five kids in the tub laughing and just relaxing together. Everything about Eleri’s life is fragile and uncertain, and we are grateful for every day we have with her. Her health and well-being have been profoundly enhanced by the gift of her Make-A-Wish Therapy Tub. As a family, we feel incredibly fortunate to have had the experience of being granted Eleri’s Wish - and, in turn, my three teens and I have chosen to become trained as volunteer Wish Granters. We will be forever grateful to Allison, Mary Gail and Make-A-Wish New Mexico. They have given our little girl, and our family, a lifetime gift.” ”
