Although these two achievements may seem noteworthy themselves; one of her biggest accomplishments has to be winning the Halloween costume contest at her church, for not one, but three straight years as Esther! Knowing she had wanted to work for Make-A-Wish since a trip to the Southern California branch, she made the move to New Mexico and jumped right in to the Make-A-Wish family. A brave move by Sydney, but nothing comparing to the bravery she will need to complete the biggest item on her bucket list, bungee jumping in New Zealand!
Although Sydney may be described as a “girly-girl”, she was able to do more pull-ups than any other boy in the fifth grade. This competitive style came in handy when Sydney broke free from being an intern and officially joined the Make-A-Wish staff in 2015 as the Operations Manager and presently holds a position as Chief Development Officer. Since then, Sydney has many amazing memories within the organization. One of her fondest memories was when a little girl wished for a cookie and her parents encouraged her to wish bigger, and she wished for a “really big cookie”! This wish ended up resulting in the girl deciding a trip to Disney World would be her wish, a testament to the amazing wishes Make-A-Wish does.
Something Sydney herself may wish (if she had a time machine) would be to go meet Audrey Hepburn in New York; but she might have to settle for just a really big cookie! The mission behind Make-A-Wish is what drives Sydney and has her enlist even her husband, who may be known as Santa Clause to some lucky wish kids, for help on occasion.
When Sydney isn’t giving her all to Make-A-Wish she is a devout Christian, a loving wife, and even has time to have a few bites of her favorite food chicken cordon bleu. With such a busy life, Sydney is still the best Operations Manager there is. Following in the footsteps of movie character Elle Woods, we are sure if we asked Sydney how she does it all her response would be “What, like it’s hard?”.
